What do you think of the NES Classic Edition game lineup?

nes-classic-edition-boxLast month, Nintendo announced the NES Classic Edition (Nintendo Classic Mini in the UK), a miniaturized NES console that comes preloaded with 30 classic NES games.  It launches in November for about 60 bucks.

Unfortunately, the 30 games that come with the console (listed below) are all you get.  You can’t add more.

So, what do you think about the system’s line up of games?  Any glaring omissions?  Any titles making you wonder why the heck they were included in the first place?

Sega Classic Game Console released in 2014After Nintendo’s announcement two weeks ago on the retro NES Classic console, people woke up to the idea of classic gaming in the modern age on reproduction consoles. This week, stories started circulating that Sega is now firing back at Nintendo by not only releasing a retro Genesis console, but also a handheld. They make this claim by pointing out the release of a Sonic 25th Anniversary Sega portable with built in games.

Nintendo Joins Sega And Atari; Releases NES Classic Console

NES Classic Edition by NintendoNintendo will be launching a new console this holiday season. However, it won’t be the NX or anything resembling a modern day console. Instead, Nintendo will be returning to its roots and following in the footsteps of Atari and Sega. Today, Nintendo announced the launch of the NES Classic Edition.

Much like the retro throwback consoles of Atari and Sega, the NES CE will have 30 built in games. The list is pretty impressive too. It has all three Mario games, both Zeldas, Star Tropics, two Castlevanias, Metroid, and Final Fantasy, to name a few.

Game director encourages western gamers to buy Tokyo Mirage Sessions despite localization changes

Outfit comparisonLast Friday, Mitsuru Hirata, chief director of Tokyo Mirage Sessions hit up Twitter to ask western gamers to buy the game despite various localization changes.

“Come to think of it, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE release date is this week on 24th isn’t it! For various reasons we had to change some outfits, contents of events and vocals, but I think the outfits of the overseas version are quite cute! If you live overseas and own a Wii U by all means buy the game!”

Okay, let’s unpack that comment, shall we?

‘Uncensored’ should be a baseline expectation, not a special feature

Corpse PartyOn April 15, publisher XSEED hit up its tumblr to announce the forthcoming PC and 3DS releases of Corpse Party, a localization of the original Japanese horror adventure.

The lengthy post mostly concerns itself with assuring readers that the game is arriving in the west completely uncensored.
