Molehill Mountain Episode 15 – An Informal Chat

This week, EZK and Andrew discuss buying the Japanese version of the never localized Ace Attorney Investigations 2 and patching in a fan translation (4:40), muse about the feasibility of publishers building the ability to patch fan translations into their games (10:55), reveal which games have made us RAGE!!! (34:06), debate whether Capcom would use the classic Mega Man design in a hypothetical new game (44:40), talk about games that made us cry (48:16), and cap off the show with a talk about the efficacy of door-to-door proselytizing (59:43).  Because why not?

There’s actually another Ace Attorney game that hasn’t (and probably won’t be localized). It’s a distant prequel starring Phoenix Wright’s ancestor, and the fan title is “The Great Ace Attorney” (I forget the actual Japanese title). Unfortunately, it’s on the 3DS, which is region-locked, so even if you can read Japanese you’re boned. It’s also not nearly as easy to patch and play games for it as with the DS. I really do wish Capcom would accept a fan translation for it, even with a disclaimer that that’s the case.

Oh yeah, forgot about that one. Didn’t even realize it had come out yet but it’s been out for a year. I’d love to play it but yeah, lots of hurdles.
