Molehill Mountain Episode 30 – Just Stop Playing

This is the last Molehill Mountain for 2016 and Andrew was away again. We will not have a podcast on Christmas Eve nor New Years Eve, so you will be on your own for entertainment those nights.

I open the show talking about Arc the Lad, a very short precursor to Arc the Lad 2. I follow it up with some discussion about a Ludum Dare game called Monolith by Rocketdad, as well as a game jam game of my own called Glug Cave. At 18:35, I talk about Facepunch telling unhappy Rust players to just stop playing. At 24:51, I look back at some of the big stories of the year such as Nintendo making multiple headlines, Blizzard launching Overwatch and the closing of GamePolitics.  At 47:45, I talk about what I want to see in 2017, specifically the launch of the Switch, the release of Cosmic Star Heroine, and some personal and business goals.

That’s it for the last podcast of 2016. Andrew and I will both be back on January 7, 2017 with episode 31.

Molehill Mountain Episode 29 – Always Online

Andrew is away for the next two weeks, so you lucky ducks get to spend some quality time with EZK. This week, we enjoy some DRM chat. Nintendo’s Super Mario Run for iPhone is reported to require a constant data connection to play and several game developers have decided Denuvo, the supposed unhackable DRM, is not for them and have patched it out of their games.

It may be all EZK, all the time in this episode but Andrew does make an appearance in the chat, which we’ve transcribed below.  Next week, he’ll be on a plane where he can’t watch the podcast or play Super Mario Run.

Molehill Mountain Episode 28 – What Has Two Thumbs and Hates Hamilton?

After a bit of the usual yammering, Andrew starts the show with a review of Hamilton (18:50), then he and EZK take an unexpected political detour discussing Trump’s feelings on Hamilton (32:40) before debating the Electoral College vs popular vote (37:45).  Getting back on track we talk about The Game Awards (52:39) and Playstation Experience (1:09:51).

And, for those that requested it, I’ve pasted a chat transcript at the bottom of this story.  Enjoy!

Molehill Mountain Episode 26 – A Mature Discussion Of NPC Genitalia

Andrew returns to chat with Zachary about the NES Classic Edition supply shortage (1:14), a rumored launch game for the Nintendo Switch that crosses Mario RPG with Ubisoft’s Rabbids (30:03), the price of Nintendo’s upcoming mobile title, Super Mario Run (36:55), and Sony suspending a gamer’s PSN account for sharing a screen of a naked NPC in Watch Dogs 2 (55:42).

Molehill Mountian Episode 25: All Sold Out

Andrew had to work last weekend so Zachary took the show’s reins and spent most of the time discussing Nintendo’s, um… interesting choice not to open pre-orders for the NES Classic Edition in North America as well as the console’s limited supplies bolstering scalper culture (in other words: Do you want an NES Classic Edition right now?  You’re probably going to have to rely on re-sellers who are asking over five times its retail price.)

EZK also spends some time talking about Trump’s policies.

Molehill Mountain Episode 24 – SPOILERS!!!

There will be no Molehill Mountain podcast this weekend (Saturday the 5th) due to Andrew’s Extra-Life video game charity marathon.  The entire event will be streaming right here on RandomTower so if you’d like to drop by and say hey, please do!

As for last week’s show, we weren’t going to talk about Nintendo this week but we just can’t seem to help ourselves (18:50)!  After that, we discuss the fact that OnePlay has taken on Desura, but not its parent company’s debt (38:34) then we try to figure out when exactly the statute of limitations on spoilers expires (48:42).

Molehill Mountain Episode 21 – Video Games Are Bigger Than Us

On this week’s episode of the Molehill Mountain podcast, EZK and Andrew discuss the longest we’ve spent doing something in a video game we really didn’t want to do (28:58), EA’s use of a real Twitter handle in FIFA 17 and its owner’s subsequent harassment (40:54), and what we thought of Luke Cage (50:03).

Molehill Mountain Episode 20 – Let’s Talk About Boning

What?  Are you snickering at the episode title?

Get you’re mind out of the gutter!  “Boning” is a technical term used in 3D character animation.  Let Zachary tell you all about it (7:40).  He also offers up his impressions on the first four episodes of Luke Cage (15:07).  After that, EZK and Andrew discuss the Will Smith movie Hancock and develop a theory explainign why Superman is such a dick in the recent movies (38:53).  After that, we comment on Phil Spencer’s comments on Xbox One (45:24).

Molehill Mountain Episode 19 – We Know What We Like

Andrew may be available to podcast at any time but Zachary has a life so in order to accommodate our resident, life-having family man, we’ve decided to permanently move the show to 7p PST on Saturday nights.  Yep, just an hour later than normal.  Hope that’s not too inconvenient for anyone!

This week’s podcast was a pretty laid back affair.  We continue Kicking the Bucket List, revealing super duper interesting aspects of our lives such as if we’ve ever been in the paper, jumped out of a plane or ridden an elephant (20:53) and discuss various super popular games that we just don’t like (27:13).

Molehill Mountain Episode 18 – We’re Good Because We’re Not Bad

EZK and I start out this week’s podcast talking about comic books, cause why not?  We then continue Kicking the Bucket List, revealing super interesting things about ourselves such as whether we’ve ever been in the back of a police car and which celebrities we’ve met (14:40) and finally discuss how Sega and Capcom earned internet cookies this week by, respectively, not DMCA-ing a fan game and announcing no microtransactions in Resident Evil VII (44:40).

Positive feedback is a wonderful thing but are our expectations of the AAA game industry really so low that we celebrate companies simply for not doing the things we hate?
