What do you think of the NES Classic Edition game lineup?

nes-classic-edition-boxLast month, Nintendo announced the NES Classic Edition (Nintendo Classic Mini in the UK), a miniaturized NES console that comes preloaded with 30 classic NES games.  It launches in November for about 60 bucks.

Unfortunately, the 30 games that come with the console (listed below) are all you get.  You can’t add more.

So, what do you think about the system’s line up of games?  Any glaring omissions?  Any titles making you wonder why the heck they were included in the first place?

Because of course there’s a Pokémon GO porno parody

Pornstar GOInternet rule #34 states that “If it exists, there is porn of it.”

And so it goes with the recently released and super duper popular mobile title, Pokémon GO, an augmented reality game that tasks you with wandering around outside catching the wild Pokémon you find loitering in various parks, restaurants, and Holocaust museums.

In the porn parody, three porn stars cosplaying as Pikachu, Charizard and Vaporeon have gone missing and it’s up to Ash to track them down and capture them with his phone’s Pornstar GO app.

Ghostbusters’ nifty 3D gimmick that Sony didn’t advertise

Ghostbusters 3D“Would you like to see the 3D presentation of Ghostbusters?” my mom asked as we headed to pick up our tickets for an opening night screening of the new film.

“Nah,” I said.  “I like 3D just fine but not enough to justify an extra $4 on the already absurd ticket prices.”  (What can I say?  I’m cheap.)

If I’d only known…

No, Anna Kendrick did NOT say she wants to play Squirrel Girl

Squirrel GirlIf you keep abreast of superhero news you’ve probably seen a bunch of articles reporting that Anna Kendrick wants to play Squirrel Girl in a Marvel superhero movie.  That’s neat.  I’d love to see Squirrel Girl on the big screen and I’ve no doubt Kendrick could knock that role out of the park.  There’s only one problem…

She didn’t actually say that.

“My brother sent me a Squirrel Girl comic because he thinks I should [play her],” she told fashion magazine Porter.  “I don’t know what Squirrel Girl does other than be half squirrel, but I could be half squirrel!”

Yeah.  That’s it.

GameStop makes me SO MAD I want to hurl obscenities!!!

gamestopMy sister bought me a PS3 the Christmas before last and I’ve been happily catching up on many of the cool games I’ve missed (Sega’s Yakuza games are great; give them a try!).  Unfortunately, after only a mere 18 months, my PS3 controller has decided that the left stick should randomly send a “left” signal to the console.  This means that I often can’t run in a straight line or aim with any accuracy and navigating menus is a pain because the cursor keeps zooming to the left.

There doesn’t appear to be anything physically broken.  The stick isn’t loose, for example.  And it’s not a matter of the stick not being calibrated properly because the “left” signal can emit regardless of the stick’s position.  I tried resetting the controller and that didn’t help.  Over the past few weeks, it’s gotten worse.  The errant “left” signal is stronger and more frequent.

Well, the PS3’s warranty is only for one year so I guess I’m going to have to buy a new controller.

Yeah, about that…

Game director encourages western gamers to buy Tokyo Mirage Sessions despite localization changes

Outfit comparisonLast Friday, Mitsuru Hirata, chief director of Tokyo Mirage Sessions hit up Twitter to ask western gamers to buy the game despite various localization changes.

“Come to think of it, Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE release date is this week on 24th isn’t it! For various reasons we had to change some outfits, contents of events and vocals, but I think the outfits of the overseas version are quite cute! If you live overseas and own a Wii U by all means buy the game!”

Okay, let’s unpack that comment, shall we?
